Laboratory Instrument Technician (Mechatroniker) (m/w/d)

K&A Labs GmbH produces instruments that create synthetic DNA, with instruments in laboratories worldwide.

We are growing our service and production team and are looking for applicants (m/w/d) with strengths in technical building, technical service, problem solving, and client management. A basic understanding of biochemistry is preferred.

K&A Labs GmbH is headquartered in Schaafheim, Hessen, Germany. Most work will be at the headquarters, with travel options as far reaching as worldwide.

The day-to-day working language is English. Fluency in German will be helpful.

If you are an experienced technician with a history of excellent customer service, we are looking for you! Also, if you have the technical skills but no experience, we can train you!

Your Responsibilities and Duties:

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and serve as either a local or remote instrument technician and assembler.

As an instrument technician, your responsibilities include:

• Understanding the function of the instruments being serviced, where they fit into the researcher’s workflow, and how the researcher will interact with them
• Performing the end-to-end assembly of each instrument
• Diagnosing and correcting instrument errors – often remotely
• Traveling to customer facilities and performing technical duties on-site
• Maintaining good laboratory practice
• Interacting with customers in a positive way and understanding that every customer interaction is a chance to advance the company and your position within it

Job Requirements:

Must:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Fachhochschule Abschluss/Ausbildung also acceptable for certain positions)
• Evident customer management skills
• Aptitude for technical work
• Fluent with MS office productivity tools
• Detail-oriented
• Enjoy working with physical instruments
• Enjoy traveling (possibly up to 50%)
• Driver’s license

The following qualifications are a big plus:

• Understanding of organic chemistry, biochemistry, and/or biochemical syntheses
• Laboratory experience
• Experience in machining and/or engineering
• Basic coding experience
• Assembly experience
• Experience in sales
